The Plaza del Rei is a square full of history and heritage in the heart of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. It contains some of the most emblematic buildings of the city, such as the Palau Real Mayor (Palau Reial Major in Catalan), which was the residence of the counts of Barcelona and the kings of Aragon during the Middle Ages.

In the square you can also find the Chapel of Santa Ágata, which is part of the Palacio Real Mayor, and the Salón del Tinell, a large Gothic room that used to be used for banquets and royal ceremonies.

In addition, in the square you can also find other historic buildings such as Casa Padellàs, a Renaissance building that houses the Barcelona History Museum, and the Torre del Rey Martín, a medieval defense tower located at one end of the Square.

In the Plaza del Rey in Barcelona there are some interesting stone stairs that connect the square with Calle del Obispo. These stairs have great historical and architectural value, since they were built during the medieval period.

The stairs of the Plaza del Rey have a considerable length and are made up of several flights of stairs that are interspersed with landings. Throughout its route, the stairs are flanked by stone walls and some sections have wrought iron railings.

The stairs of the Plaza del Rey are a fine example of medieval architecture and are very popular with visitors touring Barcelona's Gothic Quarter. In addition, they offer an interesting perspective of the square and some of the historical buildings that surround it.
